Our Five Favorite Projects

If you’re a parent, you know picking a favorite child is a no-no. At LJ Smith, we feel like the “parent” to hundreds of projects that take place with our products every year. And even though it may be a “no-no,” we’ve picked five of our favorite projects to share with you.

Project #1

We love the “swap out” project Liz Roth recently completed. She said farewell to ornate, out-of-place balusters and changed them for our Contempo oval design. https://www.ljsmith.com/lj-smith-blog/swapping-out-balusters-easy-impressive-project-2-9-2021

Project #2

Clean and contemporary, the LJ Smith stairway system in the newly-constructed home of Megan and Brett Walter fits right in with their Maine location. White Oak handrails topping Low Sheen Black finished iron balusters creates the perfect stairway statement in their new home. https://www.ljsmith.com/lj-smith-blog/modern-coastal-maine-cottage-12-2-2020

Project #3

When HGTV and DIY host Tamara Day came to us for help in redoing a stairway for her Bargain Mansions show, we said “count us in!” Our square balustrade system with box newels painted in white was the perfect switch out for her farmhouse-style project. https://www.ljsmith.com/lj-smith-blog/lj-and-bargain-mansions-5-1-2019

Project #4

Our unique metal newel and cable system was a slam dunk for homeowner Mike Mielke. He wanted a sleek stairway to lead down to his in-house basketball court in the basement. He got it with the industrial feel of his new LJ Smith stairway. https://www.ljsmith.com/lj-smith-blog/industrial-stair-system-creates-slam-dunk-7-16-2019

Project #5

When Suzanne Stanley’s toddler learned to crawl, she re-evaluated her home. First up for a change was her old stairway with wide spaces between the railings. She used our IronPro system to make the stairway safer and more elegant in just one day. https://www.ljsmith.com/lj-smith-blog/diy-staircase-transformations-in-one-afternoon-4-7-2020
