Fall 2021 One Room Challege Reveals

The Fall 2021 One Room Challenge wrapped up at the end of November, and along with it comes stunning room reveals from all of this season’s Featured Designers. Spending just 8 short weeks demolishing and renovating different spaces, these designers went above and beyond this Fall.

Take a look below to see the reveals of all of the Featured Designers we partnered with this season.

Beth Diana Smith

Beth with @bethdianasmith is the CEO + Principal Designer of Beth Diana Smith Interior Design, and this season she was chosen as a Featured Designer for the One Room Challenge. For this challenge, she decided to take on her bedroom to create a space that she would love.

Being a maximalist, she knew she wanted to create an elegant and detailed space. To do that - she would need a lot of decorative trim and a brand new stair railing system.

“What sticks out the most for me is how impactful upgrading the railing system is in the space. The newel post elevated the aesthetic of the hallway, the panel is super sleek and looks and feels high end, and the handrail shape (simple and modern) gave me a whole new view on how to approach them with client projects.”

Erika ward

Erika Ward with @mrserikaward is the owner and principal designer of Erika Ward Interiors. Erika decided to take on three rooms in her home during this 8-week challenge; her entry, dining room, and great room.

“Our staircase divides the entry area from the great room. We gave it a much-needed facelift by replacing the old newel posts with these hearty and handsome posts by L. J. Smith Stair Systems. Also, notice the clean lines of the new metal balusters. The juxtaposition of the transitional posts combined with the streamlined balusters breathes new life into our staircase. Along each side of the staircase, we added trim moulding to polish the entire look.”

Tina Bousu

Tina Bousu with @eclectic_twist is an interior and product stylist, and she was also chosen as a Featured Designer for the Fall One Room Challenge. Taking on three spaces in her home, the most drastic transformation happened right in the heart of her home; her stair landing and balcony.

Tina’s goal in her space was to tear out her old, half-wall balcony railing and replace it with modern Iron Balusters to open up the space. She also utilized No Show Fasteners to give the landing a clean look.

“L.J. Smith has an awesome installation kit for their hollow iron balusters. Using their double-ended screws I was able to lock one end into the drill and screw it down to the center of the hole.”

She outlines the entire installation process on her blog.

“I decided on L.J. Smith’s Marquis design paired with simple Iron Balusters and White Oak Railing to compliment the European oak floor. The way this opened up the house and the difference in how it feels is hard to put into words, just pure love.”
