St. Jude Dream Home Features L.J. Smith Stair Systems

When Jeremie Price, President of JB Millworks, was asked to participate in the St. Jude Dream Home project he didn't hesitate. And, when he needed a vendor partner to supply a showcase stair system for the fundraiser home, he also didn't hesitate. He contacted us at L.J. Smith Stair Systems.

"Our family-owned and operated company has installed L.J. Smith products for almost 15 years," says Price, whose company is based in Ringgold, Ga. "They were the first company I thought of to work with us on this worthwhile project."

The special project intrigued us at L.J. Smith and we stepped up immediately to donate the needed stair parts. "We're honored to participate in such a worthwhile project," says Craig Kurtz, president of L.J. Smith Stair Systems out of Ohio. "When our products can help, even in some small way, to support the fight against cancer in children, then we consider it a privilege to provide them."

2015 Dream Home

Price and his team have been involved with St. Jude Dream Homes for the past four years. Together with their vendors, they've provided more than $100,000 in materials and services to support the fundraising effort.

For the 2015 St. Jude Dream Home, located in Chattanooga, Tenn., Price had a vision for the feature stairway. "On the home exterior you see an amazing Witches Rolled Roof," says Price. "When I saw that I knew immediately that a custom-designed curved L.J. Smith Stair System was the perfect fit for this home."

The iron balusters in our Pummel Collection were selected by Price to marry up with our Heirloom Collection wood box newels and a bending wooden rail. The striking appearance of the curved stairway in an open two-story foyer sets the stage for entering a second-floor sitting area.

Supporting a Great Cause

The nearly 6,000-square-foot St. Jude Dream Home features four bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms, two fireplaces, a wraparound porch, an expansive exterior deck, and a full basement. Built by GT Issa Construction, the home was raffled off with $100 tickets. More than $1.2 million was raised that will benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, where families never receive a bill for treatment, travel, housing, or food, so they can focus on helping their child survive.

"This is a cause that touches everyone's heart," says Melissa Price, vice president of JB Millworks. "On a daily basis, our company has a passion to provide the best quality, service, and materials to our customers. We bring all that passion to our work with this extraordinary organization by coordinating with our premium vendors to supply trim, doors, stair parts, and specialty millwork to these amazing homes.

"For us, it was a natural fit to bring L.J. Smith into the project. It's always exciting when our team gets to install L.J. Smith parts. We consistently know the completed job will be built with quality products that are beautiful, strong, and durable.

"We give our best to the St. Jude's project homes because the organization deserves our best. For the 2015 home, that meant installing the best rail system possible --- an L.J. Smith stair system."
