Beautiful DIY Staircase Transformation

When Annie Williams moved into her new home last year, she had her staircase refinished and re-stained to match her preferred design. Unfortunately in the process, the staircase was damaged and they ended up needing to replace many of the integral parts of the stair system including the handrails and balusters. Wantng to create a safe and quality staircase, Annie reached out to the team at L.J. Smith.

The Plan

Annie knew she had a lot of work ahead of her to create the safe and beautiful staircase that she had in mind. With balusters missing in many areas, she quickly got to work selecting some of the best products from L.J. Smith to get the job done.

Products Used

Annie utilized all of the below products to rebuild her staircase.

The Finished Space

Annie tackled this project all on her own, and she did an incredible job. The finished space looks stunning with the sleek black balusters contrasting the white oak handrail. The oak railings are whitewashed using Benjamin Moore white oak paint, diluted 50/50 with water. While the finished space looks flawless, she did learn some installation tips along the way.

The most important tip she shares is this: “Get good quality materials. We got ours from L.J. Smith Stairs. I am obsessed with these Iron Balusters and the Oak handrails were such good quality. They have a huge selection of products to choose from.”

”We love the new staircase so much!”
